I tend to believe that the words DRY CLEAN ONLY don’t pertain to me. I can read and I know what they mean but I feel it is more of a suggestion to some people but not directly to me. Because I have a system. If it really and dearly means something to me or I really really can’t fit it into the washer after 30 minutes of trying, then it can go to the dry cleaners. Only then though. Otherwise I set my washer to delicate cycle, put it on cold water, add a little Woolite and careful place the item in the machine. I then carefully close the lid and say a quick prayer. Apparently in my mind there is a huge washing difference in closing the lid and slamming it. I sometimes even push my luck so far as to put them in the dryer after they magically make it through the wash.
Take the shower curtains. They are 100% cotton and in my cleaning spree yesterday I realized these things should be washed since I was replacing the inside plastic liner. Febreze can only do so much and although Dustin didn’t see the point in washing them I did. Do you know the germs that fly around when you flush the toilet? Anyways, dry clean only and I stuff them in the washer. Both turned out just fine and I pushed my luck straight to the dryer. His turned out fine. The one for my bathroom however, not so much. As Dustin put it back on the ringers we both laughed our asses off realizing it barely even reached the top of the tub. It shrunk in a big way.
I am now in the market for a new shower curtain today.
I can also tell you from experience that his work ties can NOT make it through the washer. I only experimented with one of those.
Also, sleeping bags don’t fully wash in the washer even though you can stuff them in and the top eventually closes.

[...] a month ago I replace the inside shower curtain liner when I bought a pretty new outside one. (Ok, I bought a new one because I shrunk the old one.) I do this maybe twice a year only because it starts yellowing on the bottom or whatever. [...]
